1 第1段中有兩個(gè)由it is... 引導(dǎo)的強(qiáng)調(diào)句。一個(gè)是It is animals and plants which lived in or near water whose remains are most likely to be preserved , 被強(qiáng)調(diào)部分是animals and plants which lived in or near water.另一個(gè)強(qiáng)調(diào)句是 it is only in the seas and rivers,and sometimes lakes,... that bodies and the like can be..., 這一句中強(qiáng)調(diào)的是地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)。

2 set in,到來(lái)，開(kāi)始。

3 whether it be plant or animal,dead or alive.

這是讓步狀語(yǔ)從句，用的是虛擬語(yǔ)氣形式。

1 the 'Vasa',“瓦薩號(hào)”戰(zhàn)船。這艘船是以瑞典瓦薩王朝(1523-1654)創(chuàng)始人Gustavus Vasa的姓氏命名的。Gustavus Vasa(1496-1560)曾領(lǐng)導(dǎo)了反對(duì)丹麥統(tǒng)治的，1523年出任國(guó)王，使瑞典成了一個(gè)獨(dú)立、統(tǒng)一、富強(qiáng)的國(guó)家。

2 the Thirty Years War "三十年戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)"。這是歐洲歷的一場(chǎng)多國(guó)混戰(zhàn)，具有政治和宗教色彩、是新教諸侯和天主教諸侯之間的連年戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)(161801648),最后在1648年簽定了威斯物伐利亞條約，以天主教諸侯失敗而告終。

3 a riot of,許多...,主要指色彩豐富。

4 with the water churned...,her flags flying,pennans waving,sails filling...,and the red and gold..ablaze...with 后有5個(gè)獨(dú)立主格結(jié)構(gòu)，均作方式狀語(yǔ)，修飾動(dòng)詞emerged。

1 the same as theirs,這里的theirs是指our forefathers'。

2 only too ready to provide,非常樂(lè)意提供。在英語(yǔ)中too...to do...的結(jié)構(gòu)通常表示否定，但如果在前面加上only,就有“非常...能做”的意思。

3 disposing of,處理。

4 It is recounted of Thomas Carlyle...,據(jù)說(shuō)，托馬斯.卡萊爾...(有下面這件).托馬斯.卡萊爾是十九世紀(jì)英國(guó)的散文作家和歷史學(xué)家。

5 in all probability,很可能。

6 put up with,忍受。

8 with,superimposed upon it,the continents,together with the islands and other features of the oceans,這是with引導(dǎo)的一個(gè)過(guò)去分詞獨(dú)立主格結(jié)構(gòu)。因邏輯主語(yǔ)太長(zhǎng)，所以使用了倒裝語(yǔ)序。superimposed upon it是邏輯謂語(yǔ)部分。

9 continental shelf,大陸架。

10 1 in 30,1/30。
